Nearly finished...

it all started with a lot of red and kind of red fiber... I decided that I want to make a blanket... so it was carded and spun... and woven... it was so much red fiber that I ended up with 2,5 blankets...

The first one was already finished before the summer break...

I finished weaving the second blanket and had left over yarn and left over warp... so I did some experiments with one of my first coil yarns.

Yesterday I reached the end of the warp... although there is still a bit of red yarn left over.

Now I have to fix any mistakes and broken warp threads , twist 2880 warp ends to a fringe and wash it.

Weaving... and ducks.

my first project on the loom is finished... tiny towels in waffle weave....

There are mistakes in it, but I had a lot of fun playing with the colors. I love the pattern and I will make more... but right now it is too exciting to try out different things.

I already started the next project, a scarf for my boyfriend... he bought me the loom. I have put a warp of grey Holst Supersoft yarn, enough for 2 scarfs. As weft I use some handspun BFL that I dyed in blues and greens...

If only there was more time for the fun stuff... at least I found time to go for a walk again with my father. There are some small lakes near where we live and I often go there and to the woods next to them with my father on sunday mornings. There are some indian runner ducks living there and I just love them. They are so used to people that they come running and take their food from your hand...

A big adventure.

I started taking a weaving class about a year ago. Every monday evening I go to my weaving school. It is an old building and it always was a weaving school. Today it is also a museum: Haus der Handweberei Sindelfingen.

It's a lot of fun and it's always a bit sad to stop when class is over or when there are holidays and there is no weaving class for 6 weeks (in the summer).

But now my boyfriend decided that he wants to buy me a floor loom. I started looking for one and finally found a used Glimakra Ideal, 100cm weaving width, 8-shaft Countermarch loom. It was exactly what I wanted, the price was ok and it was an hours drive. I was very excited when I won the ebay auction.

Last weekend we went there and got the loom: a wooden puzzle.

The result:

I still need some stuff to tie it up and other things, but I hope I can put my first warp on it next weekend.

Bento and knitting....

Since the food in our canteen is not better this year than last year I'm still making bento, also last week I did only take one picture:

It's from my favorite bento page: JustBento.

During the holidays I managed to knit a whole cardigan, but it is still missing the buttons. And I also started a to knit a ingenious but slightly insane pattern:  Fox Paws.

Of course I use my own handspun, maybe you remember this:

which became this yarn:

And something more to show... we did a swap on Ravelry; a advent calendar version of the Swap for Scraps: everyone had to pack 24 equal bags of 5 gr fiber which then were redistributed so that everyone ended up with 24 different bags. It was so much fun because I decided to try and spin and knit the fiber on the same day.

They became a very large and cozy shawl:
